What Carouslice is
Carouslice (App Store name: Carouslice: Split Panorama) is an iPhone and iPad app by Rivership, an indie studio in Tokyo. It is for people who want a panorama or other wide photo to continue across the slides of a swipeable carousel post.
You pick a wide photo, choose a tile ratio and how many tiles, preview the cut lines, and save. Every tile is written to your photo library one after another, in order.
02
Questions Carouslice answers
- How do I split a panorama into an Instagram carousel? Pick the photo, choose a ratio and 2 to 10 tiles, then save; the tiles are written to your library in order.
- How do I avoid visible seams between carousel slides? Every tile has the same integer pixel size and the cuts fall on exact pixel boundaries.
- Which tile ratios are available? 4:5, 1:1, 3:4 and 16:9.
- Can I keep the whole panorama without cropping? Yes. Choose "keep whole, pad" to show the entire photo with a background color around it.
03
What it can do
- Tile count: 2 to 10 tiles (free is limited to 3).
- Ratios: 4:5, 1:1, 3:4 or 16:9 per tile.
- Exact pixel cuts: when the width does not divide evenly, a few edge pixels are trimmed instead of stretching anything.
- Crop or pad: crop to fill keeps the center; keep whole pads the photo with a background color.
- Swipe preview: check the cut lines and swipe through the tiles before saving.
- Order-preserving save: tiles are saved one after another so they are in sequence when selected for a post.
04
What it does not do
- It does not post to Instagram or any social network for you; it saves tiles to your photo library.
- It does not stitch several photos into a panorama; it splits one photo.
- It does not edit, filter or upscale the photo.
