What this app is

基本情報 科目B 問題集 is a study app by Rivership, an indie studio in Tokyo, for people preparing for Subject B (the pseudo-code, algorithm and information security section) of the Fundamental Information Technology Engineer Examination, a national exam in Japan run by IPA. The app is in Japanese only.

The questions are original, written from the public syllabus. The app does not contain real past-exam questions and is not affiliated with or endorsed by IPA.

What it can do

  • 343 original questions: 219 algorithm, 64 information security and 60 foundation questions, grouped into 16 chapters.
  • Explanations for wrong choices: every question explains the correct answer and why the other choices are wrong.
  • 41 lessons: short lessons such as how to read pseudo-code, reachable from the explanations.
  • Trace memo: pseudo-code questions come with a variable table and a hand-written memo that is saved per question.
  • Spaced repetition: questions you miss come back after a gap; there is also a review box for missed and bookmarked questions.
  • Mock exam: 20 questions in 100 minutes (16 algorithm, 4 security), converted to a 1000-point score; 600 or more is shown as a pass. The weighting is a reference value, not the official one.
  • Exam date and reminder: set your exam date to get a daily quota; optional study reminders and a home screen widget.

What it does not do

  • It does not include real past-exam questions.
  • It does not cover Subject A as a full course; 60 foundation questions are included but the mock exam is Subject B only.
  • It is in Japanese only, with no English version of the questions.
  • It does not guarantee a pass, and the score in the mock exam is a reference value.

Pricing

The first 50 questions (three free chapters) are free. Unlocking all questions is a one-time purchase; there is also a higher "Complete pack" that adds the 41 lessons. Both are one-time purchases with no subscription. Prices are shown in the app and are authoritative.
